Bertie the Bus January 2010
We are delighted to announce that Bertie the Bus has joined us! Bertie will be used for trips and outings as well as school runs.

Christmas Party December 2009
In December we had a wonderful Christmas Party for the children, where we were joined by parents and that very special visitor from the North Pole!

Meals From January 2010
UNIQUELY, at Orchard Trees, parents can choose whether to supply their own meals for their children or to have our delicious meals.
Most children choose to have our Tea which we prepare on the day.
Following investment in our kitchen we are now able to offer home-cooked, hot, nutritious Lunches, freshly made on the day.

New Garden October 2009
Our superb new garden is now finished! With investment from the nursery as well as NYCC Local Authority we now have a wonderful all weather large covered play area and professionally developed borders, seating, playhouse and separate area for under 2s play. We celebrated with a Garden Party which was well attended by parents and children.

Wheldrake Village Show September 2009
We took part in the Village Show by offering Free Face Painting and Free Crafts for children. The beautiful weather meant that everyone had a super time. Orchard Trees sponsored the prizes for the Children's Entries to the show.

Nursery Open Day July 2009
Many thanks to all who attended the Open Day. It was a wonderful sucess and was lovely to see so many parents and children enjoying the activities. The girls also had fun doing the Face painting, plant pot decorating with seed planting, hook the fish,  and the bouncy castle seemed to be a favourite of the children.

OFSTED Inspection December 2008
We had our full OFSTED Inspection are delighted to have been judged as “Good” throughout all 14 areas of the OFSTED Report. “Good” means that “the aspect of the provision is strong”. This confirms Orchard Trees Day Nursery as one of the best Day Nurseries in the area.
 
All OFSTED inspections are in-depth, lasting a full day, and the inspectors come without prior notice or warning, thus ensuring a genuine view of how a nursery is run on a daily basis.
 
Within the report the Inspector made the following comments about the Nursery:-
 
Children
All aspects of their welfare and learning are promoted very successfully
Children make good progress in their learning
The setting meets the needs of all children very well
They are offered a good range of activities covering all areas and promoting their interests
Staff delight in the children’s achievements
Staff are skilled in their observational techniques and they know when to become involved in the children’s self initiated activities, in order to extend their learning
There is a good range of easily accessible resources
All children are settled and confident
The children behave very well, they are eager to participate in the activities on offer and they concentrate well
Each child's individual routine is respected and they enjoy a wide range of learning opportunities
Staff promote the importance of fresh air and physical exercise very positively children, including the babies, have daily opportunities to play outside in the garden and they are very keen to access the area
Children learn about eating healthily through activities
There is a very good partnership with parents and other professionals involved in the children’s care
Staff
Are well informed of the children’s individual needs
There is a committed staff team who work very well together
There is efficient management
Good recruitment, vetting, induction and appraisal procedures, ensures that children are cared for by suitable people
Very good hygiene practice is implemented throughout the nursery
