PEOPLE WHO HELP US - FEBRUARY 2012
We will have visits from several of the Emergency Services throughout this month.

CHINESE NEW YEAR and AUSTRALIA DAY - JANUARY 2012
We made Chinese Dragons, tried to eat our lunch with chopsticks (very funny!) and listened to chinese music. We had Australia Week (there was so much to do we couldn't fit it into one day!) when we found out about Kangaroos, Sydney Operah House, made didgeridoos with Aboriginal Style artwork and so much more!

WINTER WONDERLAND - DECEMBER 2011
We created Winter Wonderlands in our many Role Play Areas throught the setting, and enjoyed celebrating Christmas with a Party, Traditional Nativity Performance from the Wise Owls, a visit from Father Christmas, and a home-cooked Turkey lunch with all the trimmings.

AUTUMN AND OUT OF SPACE THEMES - NOVEMBER 2011
We looked at Autumn colours and had trips to the local woods to collect things for a collage.
We learnt about the Planets and turned our Role Play Area into a Space Ship.

NEW SKOOT ROOM - OCTOBER 2011
Due to increasing demand, we extended the premises to provide a separate SKOOT Room for out Out of School Clubs. Lots of areas to play in, including a sofa to chill out on.
During the day the Wise Owls use this room for school readiness activities.

NEW WISE OWLS - SEPTEMBER 2011
The new Wise Owls, starting school in September 2012 all got a Book Bag, and have enjoyed getting to know Lindsay and the SKOOT Room, where they spend each day between 9:30 and 3:00.

TRIPS AND OUTINGS - AUGUST 2011
We went to several places, including the local parks and woods, and a fun trip to the YORVIK Museum.

GRADUATION - JULY 2011
Our Wise Owls (Rising 5s) got dressed up with gowns and Mortar Boards, and we presented each one with a personalised certificate. Bye Bye Wise Owls, hope you enjoy Big School !

SPORTS ROUNDABOUT - JUNE 2011
This was our second visit from Sports Roundabout. We had fun doing sports and activities with them.

REAL EGG-SPERIENCE - MAY 2011
The Living Egg experience will be in nursery again for 2 weeks. We will have an incubator and 10 eggs which we can watch whilst they hatch and  the chicks start growing.
Once again, all our chicks were adopted by parents. EggShellEnt - haha

PEDAL PUSH - MAY 2011
We will be raising money for NSPCC by bringing in our bikes to Nursery. North Yorkshire Police will also be here with their bikes.

ZOO LAB - APRIL 2011
Zoo Lab will be here with lots of exotic animals and reptiles. Wow - what an experience!!!!!

SPORTS ROUNDABOUT - MARCH 2011
We saw the children enjoying some outdoor sport activities with our Sports Consultants, helping improve mobility, coordination and ball skills - Great Fun!!!!

Ladies Night - MARCH 2011
We had a great night with wines, raffles, Virgin Vie, Thorntons, Body Shop, Pampered Chef, Manicures and Pedicures (and no men allowed!!!!)

"GOOD" OFSTED Inspection December 2008
We had our full OFSTED Inspection are delighted to have been judged as “Good” throughout all 14 areas of the OFSTED Report. “Good” means that “the aspect of the provision is strong”. This confirms Orchard Trees Day Nursery as one of the best Day Nurseries in the area.
 
All OFSTED inspections are in-depth, lasting a full day, and the inspectors come without prior notice or warning, thus ensuring a genuine view of how a nursery is run on a daily basis.
 
Within the report the Inspector made the following comments about the Nursery:-
 
Children
All aspects of their welfare and learning are promoted very successfully
Children make good progress in their learning
The setting meets the needs of all children very well
They are offered a good range of activities covering all areas and promoting their interests
Staff delight in the children’s achievements
Staff are skilled in their observational techniques and they know when to become involved in the children’s self initiated activities, in order to extend their learning
There is a good range of easily accessible resources
All children are settled and confident
The children behave very well, they are eager to participate in the activities on offer and they concentrate well
Each child's individual routine is respected and they enjoy a wide range of learning opportunities
Staff promote the importance of fresh air and physical exercise very positively children, including the babies, have daily opportunities to play outside in the garden and they are very keen to access the area
Children learn about eating healthily through activities
There is a very good partnership with parents and other professionals involved in the children’s care
Staff
Are well informed of the children’s individual needs
There is a committed staff team who work very well together
There is efficient management
Good recruitment, vetting, induction and appraisal procedures, ensures that children are cared for by suitable people
Very good hygiene practice is implemented throughout the nursery
